Steven Gill

Steven is a marine biologist that has spent most of his working life in the seafood industry.

He spent the early part of his career working as a researcher in the field.  This included research on the Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery, South East Non trawl Fishery and Southern Rock Lobster Fishery as well as a summer in Antarctica.

His passion for the seafood industry led to a number of roles representing the seafood industry.  He was Executive Director of the Western Australian Rock Lobster Council the peak body for the lobster fishery in WA. 

Steven developed his commercial skills and networks in the Asian market managing a Southern Rock Lobster Export Facility in South Australia.  He was also the China Project Manager for the Australian Seafood Co-operative Research Centre.

He has been involved in the aquaculture industry for a number of years working for a Barramundi producer in the Kimberley developing the Cone Bay Ocean Barramundi brand for Marine Produce Australia.

His current role is General Manager of Maxima Opportunity a family owned business with diverse projects across various industries.  This includes a joint venture with traditional owners in the Kimberley Aquaculture Development Zone.  The JV Company Aarli Mayi Aquaculture Project has a 5,000 tonne per annum licence to produce finfish.

He is a graduate of the Australian Rural Leadership Program and lives in Perth.
